Windy day in Seaside

Not going very far today, pretty windy and rainy. It doesn't look like too many people are venturing downtown or on the beach.

Ancient phone

As I walked in the door of this vacation home in Seaside, I was amused to find this old school phone on the wall!

Washington’s wine history

I read an interesting article on the history of wine in Washington State in the Seattle Times this morning and thought I would share it with you.

"TODAY, MORE THAN 50,000 acres of wine grape vineyards are planted in Washington, a number that has quadrupled the past two decades.
But across our state are echoes of an earlier era, of a simpler time when men with dreams began to envision the possibilities.
These men are gone, but a few of their vines remain. These old soldiers stand guard, impervious to the intense heat of summer and the bitter cold of winter. These silent sentries have watched time march on as an industry has taken hold and relentlessly spread across the land.

They have stories to reveal, insights into how we arrived here. Though these old vines span the state, they are intertwined, weaving tangled tales about legends, pioneers, visionaries and entrepreneurs.
These old vines are ready to reveal their secrets."

B. B. King

I don't like anybody to be angry with me, I'd rather have friends. "B. B. King, whose world-weary voice and wailing guitar lifted him from the cotton fields of Mississippi to a global stage and the apex of American blues, died on Thursday at his home in Las Vegas. He was 89." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Y8QxOjuYHg #BBKing

Dog rescue

North Beach

Some excitement this afternoon after a dog got stuck on the hill after chasing a very large raccoon and lucky for him that the raccoon didn't decide to fight back and the East Jefferson fire came to his aid. They managed to get him to run down a low spot towards the beach.

All we need is love

One of the things I love about Port Townsend. Finding this on the back of a truck at Safeway. Good for you, PT!

La dolce vita

Yes, la dolce vita , "the sweet life.". One of my guilty pleasures is getting a blueberry danish from San Francisco Street Bakery at the farmers market and a latte from Dancing Goats Espresso (Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters) then take a nice walk along the Percival Landing boardwalk.

Just add a little tabasco sauce, and you are set!

To market to market

Busy day at the Olympia Farmers Market! It is incredible to see how much they have grown in the last 20 years from the old days across the street from Percival Landing.
