The Palace Hotel is located on the corner of Water Street and Tyler Street, in the heart of historic downtown Port Townsend, along the water front; one block from the ferry dock. They were nice enough to let me walk through and check out some of the empty rooms The Palace hotel is a beautifully restored Victorian Hotel.

Jordinis Restaurant on the waterfront in Port Townsend

What can I say, I have been back to Jordini's several times, and will be back again. So good! Jordini’s has been locally owned since it opened in 1995 and has been voted “Best Sandwich” for 12 years in a row. Jordini’s has a new menu which includes panini sandwiches, fresh soups, appetizers, delicious salads, deserts and a kids menu. They serve beer & wine and have happy hour daily. El Primero

I was really excited on a walk this afternoon, to find this lovely ship in restoration! What a beautiful old steam yacht. Information from Wikipedia. El Primero was a steam yacht built in 1893. This vessel was once considered one of the most luxurious yachts on the West Coast of the United States, and was one of the few steam yachts to be operated on Puget Sound. The yacht has since been converted to diesel, but it remained operational as of 2010. El Primero constructed at San Francisco, California, was the first steam yacht built on the west coast of the United States. The yacht had an auxiliary sail rig. The steam engine was rated at horsepower, driving the vessel at a maximum speed of 13.5 knots.

Commander's Beach House

It's an easy walk from the Commander's Beach House to all the shops and restaurants in Port Townsend, as well as to the new Northwest Maritime Center and Fort Worden's Marine Science Center. Stroll to the Victorian gardens at Chetzemoka Park or launch your kayak from our beach.

Sailing

Seeing this beautiful sailboat while on a walk today, I couldn't help but think of the Christopher Cross song, "Sailing."- Sailing takes me away to where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free.

Marrowstone Island

Beautiful day for a walk on Marrostone Island! Still chilly, but enjoyed watching the eagles flying around and the sunset behind the Olympic Mountains. Marrowstone Island, southeast of Port Townsend, Washington. A long and narrow piece of land, the island retains its rural solitude and highlights some spectacular shoreline vistas. The main town of Nordland lies in the center of the island and has a small neighborhood store. North is Fort Flagler State Park, with its bunkers and beaches, while the south end is connected by bridge to Indian Island (a naval reserve) and the rest of the Quimper Peninsula.

The Dungeness River Audubon Center has been a unique educational and interpretive center for the North Olympic Peninsula since 2001.

Flooding damage

I found this story on the flooding from KING-TV when I got home.

Railroad Bridge Park

Railroad Bridge Park, at the heart of the Olympic Discovery Trail, showcases the Railroad Bridge built in 1915 by the Milwaukee Road. From 1915 to 1980 the Milwaukee Road operated the rail line, which transported passengers and timber, from Port Townsend to Port Angeles and west to connect with several logging railroads. The line was abandoned in 1985. Today the truss and trestle represent the longest bridge over the Dungeness River.

Welcome to Sequim

Beautiful, Sequim! I really love it out here with all of the lavender farms and the Olympic Mountains.

Make your choice, adventurous stranger,
Strike the bell and bide the danger,
Or wonder, till it drives you mad,
What would have followed if you had.
